Online CEC course

The Continence Foundation of Australia has partnered with the Australian Fitness Network to create a 2 part online CEC course for fitness professionals.

Part 1 is worth 5 accredited CECs and Part 2 is worth 4 accredited CECs upon successful completion and is ideal for Certificate III or IV qualified instructors or trainers who are interested in gaining an in-depth understanding of the importance of the pelvic floor muscles.

Part 1: Positive Practice for the Pelvic Floor explores:

  • Common pelvic floor definitions and concepts
  • The role of the pelvic floor muscles in the 'core'
  • The effect of exercise on the pelvic floor
  • Function and dysfunction of the pelvic floor

Part 2: Proactive Planning for the Pelvic Floor explores:

  • Methods for including pelvic floor education in exercise sessions
  • Important lifestyle issues and their pelvic floor complications
  • How to screen for pelvic floor 'flags'
  • Function and dysfunction of the pelvic floor

Podcast for Accredited Exercise Physiologists

Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA) presented the Pelvic Floor Fitness, Function and More webinar for Accredited Exercise Physiologists in December 2016 on continence issues and how to manage them in an exercise environment. 

Presented by Dr Irmina Nahon, the session covered how to recognise groups at risk of incontinence, and how to proceed with and progress rehabilitation and exercise prescription without doing further damage. 

This presentation is now available as a podcast with 1.5 CPD points on successful completion of an assessment.
